About Sharks of Onslow County

My name is Angelique Mitchell. I have my MPS in Marine Science and the Conservation of Marine Predators. I live and conduct independent research within Onslow County, mainly between Camp Lejeune and Surf City, NC.

I wanted to create a website that was both informative and educational. It would provide information about the various species located in my core research area, Onslow County in North Carolina. Additionally, it would support the latest scientific research for species in this area.

I have been interested in the ocean since I was a kid, growing up surfing in San Diego. I have lived in North Carolina since 1999, but moved to this area in 2018 to be near the beach. I found that this particular area lacks marine science research. Most of the research is conducted from Morehead City, north up the Atlantic Ocean coastline. It is also conducted from Wilmington, south down the Atlantic coastline. We receive a lot of visitors to our area during the late spring to early fall months. I answer many questions about the marine life in the area.

 It is my hope and ambition to provide interesting information that answers these questions on this website. I welcome your questions and feedback. I would love pictures of the many wonderful sea creatures along our coastline.
